Former Linebacker Michael Clay learned the Linebacker position well when he was a payer for the Oregon Ducks. While his playing days in College gave him success, he could not find that same success at the next level, at least on the field. He was signed by the Miami Dolphins, but cut before the season even began during final roster cuts in August of 2013. He was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles under Chip Kelly and began his coaching career as an assistant in the NFL the following year.
In January of 2014 Michael Clay was named Defensive Quality Control Coach and two years later to the day on Wednesday, Clay once again joined his former Coach Chip Kelly to start new in San Francisco as Assistant Special Teams Coach.
Michael Clay was a play maker the final two seasons at Oregon in 2011 and 2012 accounting for 179 tackles, 105 of them solo tackles and a total of six sacks over two seasons. He accounted for big plays his Senior year including a team high 20 tackles against Stanford in a loss and big plays against In State Rival Oregon State in the Civil War.

An opportunity to coach at the next level for Clay is a good move. He has experience with his Head Coach and that can hopefully lead to success for him in the National Football League as he continues to climb the coaching ranks.
