On Tuesday Oregon Football also lost Quarterback Morgan Mahalak to transfer. On Wednesday, National Signing Day the Ducks lost high profile recruit Vavae Malepeai to the USC Trojans according to 247Sports.
Malepeai is a 4-Star Recruit out of Mililani Hawaii who had been commited to the Oregon Ducks throughout most of the recruiting process. He visited with the Trojans on January 30th and as they say, the last impression is usually the biggest. Part of the reason for his departure from the Oregon Football team may be due in part to the change of Coaching Personnel, including Scott Frost departing to become the Head Coach at the University of Central Florida.
Vavae Malepeai would have been one of the top Running Back recruits for Oregon in the Class of 2016 and could have bolstered a team that will be set at the position over the next several years with Royce Freeman, Taj Griffin and a returning Thomas Tyner.
Now the Oregon Ducks have two Scholarships to fill before the end of the day and it could end up being a better day for Mark Helfrich and Company when all is said and done.
