Oregon Ducks Drop Back To Back Road Games For First Time This Season, Fall At Stanford

The Oregon Ducks comeback came up short on Saturday on the road against a Stanford team that just played better and gave Oregon all it could handle.

There are always ups and downs in any sport, but in College Basketball trends can sometimes be predicted. Following the Oregon Ducks winning streak leading up to this weekend in the post game press conference last week following their sixth straight win, Head Coach Dana Altman cautioned that the Pac-12 would give the Ducks their best the rest of the way. That is exactly what happened this week.

Oregon fell on the road against Cal, who has not lost a home game since last season and also knocked off Arizona earlier this year. On Saturday Oregon played from behind but came up short against the Stanford Cardinal on the road. The Ducks still lead the Pac-12 by a game but could find themselves staring at Arizona at the top before the end of Sunday, of course Oregon holds the tie breaker having beat the Wildcats on the road a few weeks back.

On Saturday, the Oregon Ducks could not stop Rosco Allen who put up 25 points and hit 9 of 12 from the floor and 4 of 5 from beyond the arc. The Cardinal hit 68 percent of their shots in the second half and Oregon, a team that is usually solid from the free throw line came up short hitting 69 percent for the game. Dillon Brooks had 24 points for Oregon, 18 in the second half. The Defense had 2 blocks and 8 steals in the loss at Maples Pavillion.

Oregon has one game this week against in-state rival Oregon State. The Beavers beat Oregon to begin Pac-12 play and the Ducks will look to get one back on Saturday. Getting back on the winning track is now the focus. They are not at risk of not being in the NCAA Tournament, but their seed took a hit this past week. Wins could have had Oregon as a 1 or 2 seed, but with two losses they are falling out of favor. The Civl War begins the final home stretch for 2015 with three straight games at Matthew Knight Arena.
