Oregon Ducks Hold Off Pesky Colorado, Alleyne Nets 90th Career Double Double
The Oregon Ducks were getting hot at the right time of the season for a run at the NCAA Tournament. Oregon entered the game on Sunday vs Colorado winning 7 of their last 8 including a victory on Friday night over Utah. Jillian Alleyne continues to impress and bring the ball down and passed Bev Smith for most games in an Oregon uniform in the win over the Utes. She as 89 games with a double double and would look to add to the total against the Buffaloes on Sunday’s Play for Kay game.

Oregon won the opening tip, but the games first points did not come until two minutes into the game with two Colorado free throws followed by a Buffaloes two pointer and Colorado taking a 4-0 lead. Maite Cazorla put Oregon on the board with a field goal just just over six minutes to go in the first quarter. Oregon would go on a 7-0 run complete with four points from Cazorla in the span.
Colorado would go on an early run of their own to take a 15-9 lead. The Buff would hit a three pointer to put the exclamation point on the Quarter taking an 18-9 lead and doubling up the Ducks.
Midway through the second quarter Oregon was hitting 12 percent from the floor and was down by 10 points. Colorado appeared to have all of the momentum and the Ducks would have to find a way to get it back. Oregon would come back to make it within two of the lead at halftime 31-29.
Colorado would find themselves in foul trouble committing five fouls with over 5 minutes left in the third quarter sending Jillian Alleyne to the line twice before a missed free throw allowed Alleyne to get the rebound and hit a field goal. Kat Cooper followed with a steal and two points of her own giving Oregon a 45-41 lead and sending the crowd to their feet
The Oregon Ducks took over in the third quarter putting up 34 points to Colorado and 20. To start the 4th Quarter Oregon would put in a lineup that had yet to put any points on the scoreboard. Liz Brenner returned to the lineup for the first time since her Father passed away two weeks ago to an ovation from the crowd. The crowd on hand was one of the louder ones I have heard this season at Matthew Knight Arena for a Women’s Basketball game.
Oregon was able to maintain their lead in the 4th Quarter to get to two games above .500 in the Pac-12. Alleyne notched her 90th double double of her career with 24 points and 17 rebounds. The Ducks have won 8 of their last 9 games and have two games remaining hosting both UCLA and USC this week at Matthew Knight Arena.
