The Oregon Baseball team is currently getting prepared for their 2016 debut on Friday, on the road as they open a three game series at San Diego State. Earlier this week  Closer Stephen Nagosek was named to the Watch List for Stopper of the Year by the National College Baseball Writers Association. Nagosek enters his Junior Year having two seasons as experience as a reliever for the Oregon Ducks.

Last season he had 39 appearances for George Horton’s squad and helped the team to another NCAA Tournament appearance with a 2.02 Earned Run Average. He threw 58 innings, struck out 60 batters and held opponents he faced to a .136 batting average. He shifts into the Closing role in 2015 for the 14th ranked Oregon Ducks.

Stephen Nagosek is among six Pac-12 Closers to make the Preseason Watch list including Washington Closer Troy Rallings and UCLA Closer Tucker Forbes. Oregon once again will have to have a strong non-conference start as UCLA looks like a strong contender again in the Pac-12 Conference in 2016. George Horton has the talent to compete and Nagosek is a key piece of the Defensive puzzle this season. Of course a strong Offensive performance will give him some rest and I have a feeling at times this season he may need it.
