Oregon Ducks Baseball Finds Offense In Win Over San Diego State

The Oregon Ducks have had two similar games in the first two of a three games series against the San Diego State Aztecs.

Oregon won their season opener on Friday and continued to roll through the second game of the series. Starting Pitcher Matt Krook, in his first game back since 2014 struggled at times and lasted four innings giving up four hits and four runs, with two earned in his first game in close to two years. Relief Pitcher Kyle Robeniol was stellar in five inning of relief giving the Oregon Offense the opportunity to get ahead. The final was 10-5 Oregon as the Ducks look for the series sweep on Sunday.

A.J. Balta found his home run stroke hitting a two run shot followed by Stephen Packard who also hit a two run shot out of the ball park at Tony Gwynn Stadium as the Oregon Offense found a groove early. Nine Oregon Ducks had base hits with Balta going two for three on the day with three RBI’s and three runs scored to go with two walks according to GoDucks.com. For Krook, he will get a pass as he gets better and regains his form in an actual game situation.

For now, the Oregon Ducks have bullpen relief that is fresh as the season is starting who can pick up some innings and help get the Oregon Defense off the field. The final game of the series vs San Diego State is set for a 1pm Pacific Time first pitch on Sunday.

Oregon will host Illinois State for  a four game series. Their home opening series at PK Park starts on Thursday for a 6pm Pacific Time.
