The Oregon Women’s Basketball lost their heart and soul on Tuesday with just two games to go in the regular season. Coming off a four straight home games where the team went 3-1 and Senior Jillian Alleyne nabbed her 92nd career double double and was called a Warrior by Head Coach Kelly Graves disaster struck at practice on Tuesday before Oregon departed for the their final road trip of the year. It was announced by the University on Friday that Jillian Alleyne’s Oregon Career is over.
She has been here four years and has been through different coaching styles and has played in a lot of different schemes. In two seasons she has watched this team grow into a 20 win contender with her help and with rising talent like Freshman Maite Cazorla and Lexi Bando. Oregon will enter the home stretch and the Pac-12 Tournament in Seattle without their biggest home run hitter and more importantly their biggest rebounder. A story of a winning season and a possible run to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a long time now falls on Graves and the team without Alleyne, their Star player.
Can they get there? I believe they can but someone will have to step up to fill the void and it is not an easy void to fill. For the rest of this season we will get a preview of what next season will look like for the Oregon Women’s Basketball team. The Ducks hit the road for the rest of the season.
It is heartbreaking to watch this team all season and now Jillian Alleyne will have to watch from the sidelines rather than being on the court being a game changer and difference maker on both Offense and Defense. Alleyne finishes her career at the college level 3rd in rebounding in NCAA History and 2nd in NCAA History with double doubles.
