It was heartbreaking news on Friday when the University of Oregon announced that Jillian Alleyne would miss the rest of her Senior season due to an injury, also ending a stellar career for the Oregon Ducks in the process. The final regular season games and post season would be played without the Oregon Ducks face of the franchise so to speak. It did not start off on a good note on Friday night on the road against the Cal Bears.
The Oregon Ducks lost to Cal snapping a four game road winning streak. The team was also without Lexi Bando who was out with an illness. It was a rough start for the road team as the Golden Bears jumped out to a 23-8 lead in the First Quarter. It was a lead that Oregon would not recover from. The closest they would get in the final quarter was within nine points. Lexi Peterson had game high 20 points and seven rebounds for Oregon. She will have to continue to step up the rest of the season and post season for Oregon to get back on the winning track.
Another bright spot was the play of Jacinta Vanderberg who pulled down 10 rebounds and helped the Ducks out rebound Cal for the game. The Golden Bears shot 45 percent while holding the Ducks to 38 percent for the game.
