The Pac-12 Schedule this season worked out in a way that the one of the most hated rivalries in College Sports cane down to the final home weekend for the Oregon Ducks and the Washington Huskies. The Ducks are on the verge of a top seed in the NCAA Tournament if they continue to beat the teams they should beat and this year, every team in the Pac-12 has been one of those teams, including a big signature win on the road at Arizona that snapped the Nation’s longest winning streak at the time.
Last Time Out(vs Washington State)
- Elgin Cook led the team with 24 points, the Ducks shot 42 percent from the floor and better than 30 percent from three point range
- The Oregon Defense had 8 blocks and 7 steals in the win over the Huskies.
Dana Altman has watched his team stumble on the road facing Cal and Stanford last week but the team rebounded with a win over Washington State on Wednesday night. Today marks the final home game for five Oregon Ducks including Dwayne Benjamin, Elgin Cook, and Dylan Ennis(who will apply for a medical redshirt to see if he can get another year of eligibility.) Chris Boucher is also a Senior and will look to get another year of eligibility. He will not take part in the Ceremony after the game today.
The Washington Huskies are clinging to the NCAA Tournament bubble sitting at 16-12 and 8-8 in the Pac-12. A win over the Oregon Ducks could be the signature win that could get them playing in March. Andrew Andrews leads the team with over 20 points per game and Marquese Chriss is hitting at close to 54 percent from the floor for the Huskies this season. Andrews is also hitting at 40 percent from beyond the arc. The Huskies have lost five of their last six games including a one point loss at Oregon State earlier this week on a questionable call, but it did not go their way. Both teams have something to play for, but when you are in a corner as Washington is, you play a little harder.
Oregon comes in with a 24 game winning streak and has players on the floor that can get it done. Dillon Brooks leads the team averaging over 17 points per game. Against Washington State on Wednesday it was Elgin Cook who took the points lead. The first half of the week fell the Ducks way with Arizona losing on the road at Colorado which give the Oregon Ducks a full game lead on the rest of the Pac-12 Conference. A win today will give Oregon a top seed in next week’s Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas.
