The Conference of Champions Basketball Season awards were announced on Tuesday and among them was Pac-12 Coach of the Year. Having a team at the top of the Conference and on a roll entering the final weeks of the season made the decision easy as Oregon Ducks Head Coach Dana Altman was named Pac-12 Conference Conference Coach of the Year.
Dana Altman has guided the Oregon Ducks to their sixth straight 20 win season as Head Coach. This season marks the third time on four seasons that the Altman has been awarded the honor. Several Oregon players were also in line for Conference honors, but were overtaken.
Dillon Brooks was a Pac-12 Player of the Year Candidate. The award went to Utah’s Jakob Poetl. Tyler Dorsey was among those vowing for Freshman of the Year. The honor went to Cal’s Jaylen Brown. It has been a crazy season in the Pac-12 with upsets abound and teams losing on their home floor. Arizona fell to Oregon breaking the Wildcats 49 game home winning streak at the McHale Center.
Dana Altman leads Oregon once again into the NCAA Tournament following a loss last season against Wisconsin. The Ducks also have a chance at a number one overall seed if things fall right over the upcoming weekend.
