Oregon Baseball Travels To SEC Country To Meet Alabama, Mississippi State

The Oregon Ducks Baseball team heads to SEC Country for four games this week starting with one game against Alabama followed by a three game series against Missisippi State.

Oregon and Alabama have never met on the Diamond. The Ducks will sent Freshman Kyle Robeniol to the mound for the road start on Thursday. It will be the first start of his career for the Oregon Ducks. The Crimson Tide come in at 10-2 on the season, the Ducks are 8-2 following taking two of three at home this past weekend against UC Santa Barbara.

Chandler Avant is the player to watch for Alabama. He is leading the team in hitting at .323 with a pair of doubles, three RBI’s and two runs scored last week as the Crimson Tide were on the road. Alabama is 6-1 at home this season and are so far undefeated when they lead after six innings. Oregon may have to strike early to pick up the road win.

For the Oregon Ducks the name of the game for the early part of the season has been stellar pitching. They are ranked in the top 10 as a Team with an ERA of 1.06 entering the game with Alabama. The Standard three man rotation will be used this weekend at Mississippi State with Cole Irvin throwing Friday, Matt Krook on Saturday and David Peterson on Sunday.)

At the plate, several Oregon Ducks hitters are hitting an early stride this season including Phil Craig-St.Louis who started the season going 1 for 111. Through two home series he has raised bhis batting average to .179. Tim Susnara leads Oregon hitting .333 this season through 8 games.
