The Oregon Men’s Basketball team was prepared on Friday for Holy Cross and took care of business in the Round of 64. Sunday brings a new challenge. The St. Joseph’s Hawks hail from the Atlantic 10. The Hawks have three players that can score and have done it all season. Isiah Miles and DeAndre Bembry average 18 points per game this season. St. Joseph’s had their hands full against Cincinnati on Saturday night and pulled off a two point win.

The Oregon Ducks enter the Round of 32 matchup with St Joseph’s winner of nine straight games. The Ducks outpaced and outplayed Holy Cross on Friday night and did what a top seed is supposed to do. It is a lesson that was not learned on Friday with several higher seeds getting knocked out. On Saturday, Michigan State was sent packing. The Spartans were expected to compete for the Final Four and entered the NCAA Tournament as a 2 seed. Their loss proves the point that it is anyone’s game. Oregon will have to be ready, as they were for Holy Cross.
The number one seeds all came out on top in their first round matchups, but the Oregon Ducks did it by 39 points. Chris Boucher had 20 points and Elgin Cook had a quiet double double. There was a point as the second half started that Oregon had more points in the paint(28) then the Crusaders had on the scoreboard(27). It was a dominating performance in the second half as many of the Oregon Starters had a chance to watch from the sideline as bench players including the Oregon Ducks ‘Sixth Man’ Dwayne Benjamin took control.
The floor experience in a big environment for guys like Kendall Small and Roman Sorkin could be invaluable down the line. Sorkin played the final 11 minutes and had 7 points.
