The Oregon Ducks came off a road sweep against Mississippi State, but George Horton’s team were on the wrong side of the Win column dropping three straight on the road. The Ducks returned home on Friday to open a three game series with Utah in the Pac-12 opening series of the year.

The hitting woes of late continued as Oregon had just three hits in the game. Starting Pitcher Cole Irvin looked good through six innings before things got away from the Oregon Ducks. Irvin limited Utah to just three runs on the night but it was a lack of Offense that saw Oregon pick up their fourth straight loss. Austin Grebeck started the game with a walk, but was picked off stealing second A.J. Balta hit a sacrifice scoring Travis Moniot that tied the game at one.

It is still early in the season and baseball is sometimes a game of inches. If there was a series to win, it would be against the Utah Utes, the team in the bottom of the Pac-12 Conference, now with five wins on the season. While Irvin rebounded well from last week, the Oregon Ducks Offense needs to find their stride. It is definitely something they can play out of, and the sooner the better.
