Geoff Schwartz has had an injury plagued career in the National Football League and will look for a fresh start after signing a one year deal with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday.

Former Oregon Ducks Offensive Lineman Geoff Schwartz has become a journeyan in the National Football League. He started his career with th Carolina Panthers for his first two seasons in the league, then travelled to Minnesota and Kansas City for one year stints before landing for two years with the New York Giants.
Now a Free Agent, he is headed to the Detroit Lions on a one year deal.
Schwartz has shown his versatility throughout his time in the National Football League and can play both the guard and tackle position. He is expected to play multiple roles with Detroit as either competition to push the younger lineman or as a reserve according to ESPN.
The former Oregon Ducks Offensive Lineman will be 30 in July, but injuuries have slowed Schwartz. Toe and foot injuries have been a problem throughout his career. He still had two years remaining on his deal with the New York Giants but was released in January.
The NFL can be a cruel career sometimes, but it helps when you can play multiple positions on the field. Schwartz found opportunity in Detroit and is healthy. He can be an impact player for the Lions this season and also help teach the younger players in multiple positions.

Schwartz will join a former Oregon teammate in Haloti Ngata who is also with the Lions. Salary information was not disclosed at the time of the story.
