The Oregon Women’s Basketball team is one win away from tying their all-time mark for wins in a season and two wins away from the WNIT Championship. Oregon has not lost a game in the WNIT despite not having Jillian Alleyne in the lineup. Senior Lexi Petersen is a big reason why. She has played lights out basketball this post season and will look to lead Oregon again on Wednesday night as Oregon visits South Dakota for a chance to make it to the WNIT Title game.
Last time out the Oregon Ducks defeated UTEP on the road, it was their first home loss this season. South Dakota has been undefeated at home the last two seasons. Kelly Graves and the Ducks also were part of a culture in Texas that is all about Women’s College Basketball and a near sellout of over 9000 people. Graves in his second season with Oregon is looking forward and also seeking similar attendance numbers at Matthew Knight Arena for his team. Wins will get the team there faster than losses, but in just two seasons he has challenged the all-time win mark and could break it with a win in the Championship.
This will be the first meeting between Oregon and South Dakota in Women’s Basketball. The Coyotes average over 78 points per game and are undefeated when they put up 70 or more. They also have scorers on the roster. Nicole Seekamp has 2000 points under her belt for her college career. This season’s team has broken the record for points, rebounds, and assists according to goyotes.com, their official website.
