In life, it all depends on how you start. The same can be said in the game of Baseball. Friday night was a disaster as Oregon Starter Cole Irvin gave up five runs in the first inning. Cal never looked back en route to a 12-1 win walking off with the most hits scored by an opponent at PK Park at 21. Saturday was a different story. Matt Krook took the mound for Oregon and was solid through 6 and 2/3 innings.

Offensively Oregon was a different team from the start. After Krook retired the side to start the first inning, Austin Grebeck stepped to the plate and blasted a lead off home run to start the game for the home team changing the dynamic of the game from Friday. A.J. Balta would also play a part for Oregon scoring Grebeck in the fourth and making a difference himself with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 5th giving Oregon a two run lead.

For Matt Krook it was his second win of the season and he was dominant striking out 8 in 6 2/3 innings pitched. He did give up six walks but was able to work around them. He has allowed just one run and posted 16 strikeouts in 12 2/3 innings this season. If you watched this game on Saturday you got the the feeling from the start that this team was not going to give up against the higher ranked Cal Bears. Oregon would hold on for the 4-3 win. The Oregon Ducks will look for the series win on Sunday.
