The Oregon Ducks won the series vs Cal on Sunday with timely hitting in the fifth and sixth innings to beat Cal and take the series.

The Oregon Ducks saw Matt Krook walk six batters on Saturday and still pull out the win over the Cal Bears. In the finale of the three games series on Sunday, the ballgame started out with a walk by Starter David Peterson. Aaron Knapp would also walk following his first at bat bringing Head Coach George Horton to the mound.

Peterson would settle in to strike out two and not giving up a hit bringing the Oregon Ducks to the plate. After two outs, A.J. Balta came to the plate. He pulled the ball twice then belted a ball over the right field wall for a home run, his sixth of the season giving the Oregon Ducks a 1 run lead. Jake Bennett was hit by a pitch bringing up Nick Catalano.

Bennett would be called out on a steal. Oregon had a lead entering the second inning for the second straight game. Slade Heggen would start out the bottom of the third inning with a double and Cal Starter Matt Ladrech would walk Austin Grebeck. Kyle Kasser would fly out to right. A.J. Balta would come to the plate looking to inflict more damage following a home run in his first at bat.

Balta would fly out to center to end the inning for Oregon.

Oregon held Cal off the scoreboard until Devin Pearson hit a bases clearing triple to give the Golden Bears a 2-1 lead. Peterson would go 3 2/3 innings as Kyle Robeniol was the second pitcher of the day for the Oregon Ducks.

Oregon tied the game in the bottom of the fifth on a hit off the bat of Travis Moniot scoring Daniel Patzlaff. Austin Grebeck would bunt his way on base to first with Ducks on first and second and a team showing confidence at the plate for their second straight game.  The hits in the inning would keep on coming. A.J. Balta had a double and Stephen Packard entered the game hitting a ground rule double. Cal went to the bullpen.

Susnara came through with a hit to shallow right field plating another run. Oregon would score six runs in the frame.  Cal would strike back with three runs of their own in the top half of the sixth inning.

Cal pitching fell apart in the bottom of the sixth loading the bases with no outs. George Horton would watch his team add another four runs onto the Ducks lead making it 11-5.

A strike out, throw out double play saw the Oregon Defense on point in the top of the eighth inning. Oregon finished the game with a season high for hits at PK Park with 15 on the afternoon and took the series against Cal two games to one.

The Oregon Ducks now heads up I-5 to play Portland in Hillsoboro on Wednesday before returning to Pac-12 play hosting USC next weekend at PK Park followed by a single game against in-state rival Oregon State on Monday.
