Before you think that Oregon is losing two of their top players from this last season, that is not necessarily the case…
The NBA Draft rule has changed and is different than say a football player declaring and giving up their eligibility to return. Per the NCAA, as long as the student athlete does not hire an agent, and neither has, the new rule with the NBA allows college players to get, in essence, a free evaluation from NBA teams and to gauge interest.
Tyler Dorsey was a big part of the Oregon Ducks Offense in 2015 hitting key 3-point shots throughout the season and helping keep the Ducks in big games. He hit 44 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc averaging better than 13 points per game.
Dorsey recently told ESPN, “”My family and I just thought that was the best decision to make going further, giving me the option to come back to Oregon as well.”
Other players have decided to remain with the team including Jordan Bell and Chris Boucher, who was recently granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA. Dillon Brooks and Tyler Dorsey have until May 25th to decide on whether to return to school, which I believe both will, or forgo school and head to the next level.
