The Oregon Ducks Baseball team turned to Freshman Cole Stringer on Tuesday who threw into the 8th inning for the win against San Diego. Stringer threw in front of a part home town crowd. The Portland native earned a 5-2 win and worked his way around a baserunner in each inning til the 8th. The Oregon Offense had nine hits and five runs for the victory.
It was not the usual weekday game for the Oregon Ducks. Typically this season, Head Coach George Horton has turned to multiple pitchers to get in experience and work, but not on Monday. Stringer showed he can be a competent spot Starter, if needed for a longer series, which could come along if the Oregon Ducks earn an NCAA Tournament bid. The experience on the mound doesn’t hurt either.
Oregon’s Offense came to life in the seventh with A.J Balta hitting a home run to make it 4-0 Oregon and the Ducks were in business from there. It was the second straight win. Stephen Nogosek threw an inning an a third to close out the game and pick up his 11th save of the season.
