Oregon Football Recruiting: Running Back CJ Verdell Commits

While Oregon appears to be in good shape for 2016 at the Quarterback position, one possible area of need for 2017 will be Running Back. Several days after the Spring Game one member of the Class of 2017 made his decision.

CJ Verdell is listed asa  3-Star Running Back by 247Sports. He holds offers from half the schools in the Pac-12 and had decided to come to Eugene according to Andrew Nemic from the Oregonian.

In watching the tape on Verdell, one thing stands out more than anything else. Speed. In a good part of the plays he not only sped through would be tacklers, but past them – in some cases he passed the entire opposing Defense on the way to the endzone. What is scary is when he gets into a training routine with the Oregon Ducks. It can only make him stronger. His speed is not quite De’Anthony Thomas speed, but it could be. He also has a big second gear to get him past the opposition. We can hope that training will allow Verdell to use his vision at the College Level and anticipate. Tacklers at the College level are a little different than high school.
