Baseball plays a long season and so far it has felt that way for the Oregon Ducks. Coming off another win streak last week, Oregon was unable to get a win for the second straight game against Arizona State on Saturday night. A.J. Balta has powered the Ducks Offense the last two games with a homerun and four RBI’s so far through two of the three games in the series. On Saturday it was the Pitching that was not up to par.
The Oregon Ducks struggles started in the eighth. For the second straight game they could not hold a multiple run lead allowing the Sun Devils to comeback and win for the second straight game. Brac Warren allowed two runs in the ninth as ASU won 9-8. Travis Moniot brought his glove and was ready to play as one of the bright spots on Defense Saturday according to GoDucks.com. He started an inning ending double play with the tying run in scoring position in the eighth.
Oregon will look to salvage the series finale on Sunday, before heading home to take on Gonzaga on Monday and Tuesday. The game on Tuesday will wrap five straight days of games for the Oregon Ducks. Of course, coming out at 3-2 is the goal but coming out 5-0 would have left a better impression as the season winds down. Next weekend Oregon faces Oregon State in Corvallis.
