The game would start following a two hour delay due to weather. The tarp was finally taken off the field at 2:30pm Pacific Time and the first pitch from Starter Cheridan Hawkins came at 4:02pm. Hawkins was one of eight Seniors honored before the game. She would give up two hits and two runs in the first inning.
After Hawkins settled down in the second to strikeout the side, Geri Anne Glasco hit a solo home run over the right field wall to it 2-1 Utah. Janelle Lindvall would follow with a base hit, but a Utes double play and a ground out would end the second innning threat.
Anissa Urtez for Utah had a big Defensive play to end the second inning catching a fly ball on a sliding catch in right field.
The Oregon Ducks would again find the basepaths in the bottom of the fifth. Alyssa Gillespie would bunt her way to a single with the bases loaded with one out for Jenna Lilley. She would turn a 3-2 count to a single past the first baseman scoring two runs and giving Oregon a 3-2 lead with one out in the inning.
Oregon would crank out eight hits in the end and win the game to take two of three from Utah.
Did they do enough to end up as a top eight seed for the NCAA Tournament? The selection show is set for 7pm Pacific Time Sunday Night on ESPNU.
