Oregon Ducks Softball: Cheridan Hawkins One Hits Baylor As Offense Powers Ducks To 6-0 Win
The Oregon Ducks are now 20-0 in the Regional Round of the NCAA Tournament after Cheridan Hawkins threw a one-hitter as Oregon scattered runs throughout seven inning to win 6-0.

After a complete game from Freshman Megan Kleist in the NCAA Tournament Opening game against Fordham on Friday night, the Oregon Ducks went with the four year Starter Cheridan Hawkins on Saturday against Baylor. Hawkins comes in winning her third straight Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year award and posted a 1.44 ERA in Pac-12 play this season.
Opposite Hawkins, Heather Stearns from Baylor who has a season ERA of 1.89. She has also posted 20 wins on the year. It would be quite the matchup and over 2000 were on hand for the Oregon Ducks second round game.
Cheridan Hawkins saw two ground outs and a strikeout in the first inning. Oregon would come to bat in the home half of the 1st. Koral Costa would fight off some pitches before putting a single in play for the first hit of the game. Geri Ann Glaso would walk bringing up Janelle Lindvall as Oregon again appeared to be working the Offense early.
Lindvall would hit a slow roller to third and the bases were loaded with Lauren Lindvall coming to the plate. She would fly out for the final out of the inning, but it was good to see the Oregon Offense on the bases early in the game against Baylor.
Oregon would start the second inning with a hit from Gwen Svekis. Alyssa Gillepsie put down a bunt that stopped dead in front of home plate. Svekis moved to 3rd, Gillespie was safe at first. Oregon would catch Baylor off guard and steal second and home making it 1-0 Oregon. The Ducks would see the hit parade continue in the 2nd inning with three hits and two outs and Koral Costa who hit a deep ball to right field making it 2-0 Oregon.
Sammie Puentes added another run in the third inning off at throwing error from Baylor Right Fielder Linsey Hays.
One thing to note, Hawkins through three saw her season ERA from from 2.02 to 1.99. She had four strikeouts through three innings. Oregon added a run in the fourth and fifth and Koral Costa and Geri Ann Glasco started the bottom of the sixth with singles, Costa went to third. Janelle Lindvall would pick up the 12th hit of the day scoring Costa for a 6-0 lead.

Cheridan Hawkins took a no-hitter into the top of the 7th and gave up a hit with one out. Hailey Decker and Alyssa Gillespie snagged the final two outs as Oregon, 2-0 in the Regional, won against Baylor 6-0. She is now 22-3 on the season and lowered her ERA to 1.95 The Ducks will next play in the Regional Championship on Sunday at 4pm Pacific Time at Jane Sanders Stadium.
