The Oregon Ducks Baseball team took two of three games from Arizona over the weekend. They had a chance to take the finale on Sunday, down 5-1 to start the 9th inning, but came up short in a 5-4 loss leaving the winning run on base with two outs.
The pitching performances of Cole Irvin and David Peterson to start the series was the main storyline. Irvin looked as good as he has all season and started a two and a half hour contest on Friday, one of the shortest of the season. Closer Stephen Nagosek recorded two saves over the weekend as the Pitching Staff found their way back on track.
Offensively, Oregon found ways to get the job done as well. Tim Susnara had the most timely hit late in the game on Saturday to notch the win. He had three hits to go with two RBI’s in the game. Austin Grebeck and Jake Bennett had 5 of Oregon’s 9 hits on Sunday. The team has again found it’s stride at the plate and will look to continue to use to momentum to hopfully finish strong this week.
