The Oregon Ducks Baseball team picked up an important win on Monday night against St. Mary’s. While it was non-conference game, it could make the difference late in the season for the team to make the NCAA Tournament.

One thing is clear. George Horton and his team are no longer in the running to win the Pac-12, but there are several scenerios that may fall in the Ducks direction to land in the field of 64. Of course, the best option would be to sweep Cal in the final regular season series this weekend.

Utah and Washington will battle it out for the likely Pac-12 crown this weekend and of course, Oregon is also battling with Civil War for Oregon State, along with Cal, Arizona, and Arizona State in the middle of the pack to make it into the NCAA Tournament.

Monday night saw the rturn of Matt Krook as a Starter. He appeared to return to his old self throwing five inning of no run baseball. Oregon struck for two runs in the bottom of the sixth and held on for a 2-1 win.

Krook, along with Cole Irvin and David Peterson will be key role players for Oregon if they get to the post season. The RPI is a telling factor, but not the deciding factor for the NCAA Tournament. Oregon has been hovering above 70 for a good part of the regular season, but wins against Stanfprd this weekend could boost that number, and wins always look better than losses in a very crowded Pac-12 Conference.
