The NCAA Track and Field Championships are next week at Hayward Field. The rankings released on Tuesday have the Oregon Men’s team ranked third, just behind Florida. The Oregon Women may be on the outside looking in at the overall Championship and are placed out of the top five in 6th place.

For the Oregon Women’s Team, the announcement last week from Jasmine Todd abruptly ending her Oregon Career is still sending some shockwaves through Track and Field. She gave no explanation as to why although an injury is not thought to be part of the decision.

Oregon is rolling into the NCAA Championships at Hayward with a full head of steam and athletes Edward Cheserek and Devon Allen are looking for big performances next week. Cheserek is the distance runner for the Oregon Ducks, Allen is coming off knee surgery from Football in 2015 and has been a story of inspiration on the Track in 2016. He missed Spring Camp for Football to focus on Track and Field and it could payoff in the long run with an Olympics bid.

For the Oregon Women to have an opportunity someone will have to step up. Both teams have 28 combined athletes participating next week in the Outdoor Championships so the chance to make a move is certainly there.
