The Oregon Ducks certainly had enough on the Track on Friday to keep things interesting, but despite several NCAA Titles it took just one race, the Men’s 400 Meter Hurdles to give Florida 18 points on their way to the 2016 Men’s Track and Field Championship. It was the one, two finish by the Gators that completed the day with them taking home the trophy. Oregon did manage to have a solid afternoon.
Devon Allen would reclaim the 110 Meter Hurdles Title following a year off due to injury. He also spoke after and said his Olympic Dream is still alive and he would return to the Football team with ten practices to go until the Opener against UC Davis. Marcus Chambers finished fourth in his 800 meter run, and Blake Haney finished the 1500 in 5th, but the story of the four day meet was Edward Cheserek.
The Oregon Ducks Distance Runner, in his third season picked up his 15th NCAA Individual Title after winning the 10,000 Meter and 5000 Meter Distance runs on Wednesday and Friday respectively. He enters his Senior year looking to reset the record books.
It was the fourth straight year that Oregon finished the Men’s Outdoor season ranked in the Top 4. On Saturday the NCAA Championships wrap up with the Women’s Title being awarded at the end of the day and while Oregon doesn’t have the firepower for a top spot finish, they could easily work they way into the Top 5.
