When he took part in Senior Day at the University of Oregon, we could figure by the move that Irvin has decided not to return to the Oregon Ducks for his Senior year next season. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday and was seen as an immediate big league prospect.

He was the Oregon Ducks Friday Starter for the better part of three years and that role for Irvin will likely continue. Irvin is one of several Pitchers in College to have already had Tommy John Surgery. He has also come back from it to throw a decent season for the Oregon Ducks and he has returned to form with his fast ball. Training at the next level may even bring the speed a few miles per hour higher.

Philadelphia is a team that is in the reloading process. Irvin fits in perfectly and will work his way up the system. Of all the players that the Phillies selected over the weekend, I can see Irvin being a quick learner. He needs to turn the teaching into success on the field.

According to Jay Floyd from Phoulballz that translation from Minors to Majors has a good chance with Irvin.

Of course the first step is for Irvin to decide on his next path. Returning to Oregon or Signing a Contract with Philadelphia. If he decides on the latter, we may find out quickly just how the Phillies feel about Irvin. Will he start in Double A or Triple A? The path to the majors always starts in the Minors.
