Before the end of the 2015-16 season we knew that the Oregon Ducks were going to host UNLV at some point in 2016. Following the announcement of their Non-Conference schedule on Wednesday according to the Las Vegas Review Journal, that meeting now has a date, December 17th.

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels have set up quite the non-conference slate playing some of the top teams in the nation and looking for early relevance before their respective Conference games begin in January. They will face Arizona State, Duke, Kansas and Oregon in the final month of 2016. UNLV is the Oregon Ducks first schedule opponent on the calendar for next season.

The Oregon Ducks return key players from last season and four of their top five scorers with Dillon Brooks, Tyler Dorsey and Casey Benson all coming back next season. 2015-16 saw Oregon reach new heights in the NCAA Tournament and make it to the Elite 8. The game against UNLV will be played in Portland at the Moda Center. It will be the Ducks first game there since 2013.

UNLV finished last season at 18-15. New Head Coach Marvin Menzies may not quite know what his team is up against, but if your going to schedule at all, schedule big.
