There are puzzle pieces in every Football Offense and Defense. Last season, the Oregon Ducks 3-4 Defense did not run very efficiently, giving up a ton of points. In some cases it was too much for the Ducks Offense to overcome, resulting in a four loss season with nine wins. Entering 2016 something needed to change. A new Defensive Coordinator came on board in Brady Hoke. His changes were immediate from the 3-4 to the 4-3.
His recruiting prowess in the past few months has also made front page news. Hoke has added several big pieces to the 4-3 Defensive puzzle. Langi Tuifua and Rutger Reitmeier have already verbally committed to Oregon. On Wednesday, the Oregon Ducks added Sampson Niu.
Niu is a 4-Star Linebacker who recently visited Oregon. He also had offers from several Pac-12 schools including Colorado, USC, and Utah. According to the Oregonian, the thought was USC was his choice, but the Trojans have filled their Linebacker position for next season.
247Sports lists Sampson Niu as the 41st ranked athlete out of California and 16th best at his Inside Linebacker Position.
Highlights – Sampson Niu, Linebacker (via HUDL)
In watching his highlights, Niu shows instinct beyond his years. His ability to finish the play is clear and his speed, at times appears lethal. On one play he gets to the opposing Quarterback before he even has time to react, another play he shows his strength by bowling over an Offensive Lineman to make a play.
