The Mackey Award for the Top Tight End has more than a handful of players entering the 2016 season, but making the list, and also making a comeback to the field is Oregon Senior Tight End Pharoah Brown according the Mackey Award website.
Brown made some solid plays in the Spring Game after showing he was getting back to form late last season in November when he was running sprints pre game on the turf at Autzen Stadium. The Oregon Senior missed all of last season following a devastating injury on the turf at Utah in 2014. He should be a contributor in the Oregon Offense this season and could prove to be a big outlet for Quarterback Dakota Prukop who takes over the Offense from Vernon Adams.
Royce Freeman has done everything for Oregon at Running Back the last two seasons, but still has yet to break the 2000 yard mark in a single season. He was not on earlier Watch Lists, but did make the Maxwell Award List for Best Player in College Football. Freeman could be the go to guy for Dakota Prokup.
For him to have a chance at the 2K mark he will have to earn it during the non-conference slate and likely have a big game against UC Davis and Virginia to start the season. Myles Gaskin from Washingon State and Ronald Jones II from USC also made the list for Running Backs in the Pac-12 Conference.
The Mackey Award winner will be announced on December 7th. The Maxwell list will be broken down to Semi Finalists on October 31st with three finalists announced on November 21st.
The Oregon Ducks begin Fall Camp on August 8th.
