The final events of the Olympic Trials were as good as the first with the Women’s 200 Meters and the Men’s 1500 Meters sending Ducks to Rio.

The 2016 Olympic Trials has come to a successful end of your a fan of the Oregon Ducks. What started as 40 with ties to Oregon, ended with eleven current or former student athletes punching their tickets to Rio to represent Team USA in the Olympics.
The final day of competition saw three make the most of their opportunity, one by way of a fall. Jenna Prandini appeared to slip past Allison Felix to place third in the Women’s 200 Meter final. She won by just one one-hundredth of a second over Felix. Deajah Stephens was quick off the line and placed second. Ariana Washington, the third Oregon Duck in the race finished fifth.
There was drama in the Men’s 1500 Meter final as well. In the end it was Matthew Centrowitz who will lead the team to Rio. Olympic hopeful Andrew Wheating finished a disappointing 12th.
Earlier in the day Jordan Hasay competed in the Women’s 5000 Meter but faltered finishing 10th. She also did not make the final in the 10,000 Meter last week.
The highlight of the Olympic Trials happened on Day 9 when Football and Track and Field Star Devon Allen won the 110 Meter Hurdles to lead the team to Rio. He did it in just 13.13 seconds and will look to get his time even lower next month. Oregon fans don’t have to worry about him returning to the football field.
Allen should be back in Eugene in time to complete ten practices before the Oregon Football team opens their 2016 season against UC Davis.
Hayward Field has hosted the US Olympic Trials for Track and Field for the third straight time, also hosting in 2008, and 2012. The 2016 Summer Olympics Begin on August 5th.
