The Oregon Ducks returned to the game of baseball in 2009 and have had more than a handful of players sign professional contracts. On Saturday, Tyler Anderson did something that has not been done since the 1950’s in picking up a win for the Colorado Rockies. He also notched his first career hit and it was a big one.
Since coming up last month Tyler Anderson was 0 for 10 at the plate and 0-3 as a Starter according to MLB.com. Something clicked on Saturday night. He helped Colorado rally from three runs down to win the game against Philadelphia. Not only did he have a third inning single in the game, but a home run to boot. The rally led Colorado to an 8-2 win.
On the mound he threw six innings giving up nine hits and just two runs.
"Not something to dwell on, but something to remember for sure. It’s gratifying, yeah. But I love this game. All of that is just part of the grind. The whole season is a grind, so that just makes this more beautiful.Tyler Anderson on his Saturday night performance"
Major League Baseball is currently on a week long break for All-Star Game festivities. Anderson notched just two hits in his Minor League career and had no hits while at the University of Oregon.
