Following the second practice of the day on Monday, Oregon Ducks Offensive Coordinator Matt Lubick was impressed with the first official day of Fall Camp. Players put in work over the Summer, especially in the Weight Room to get better entering the preparation phase for the upcoming season.
Matt Lubick is entering his first official season as Offensive Coordinator for the Oregon Ducks, following the departure of Scott Frost to become Head Coach at UCF and so far it is as if the team has not missed a beat from Spring Practice, “How you can really tell is when they are on the field is how they execute. Guys have made leaps and bounds(I know it’s day one) by doing on their own a lot of good things in the summertime.”
One area that will get a lot of focus is the Quarterback Battle. For the second straight season it appears there are several players to watch, “We’re reppinng Dakota(Prukop), Travis (Jonsen)and Terry(Wallace). The neat thing about Fall Camp is we have a lot of time to let it play out. It’s like having two Spring Balls. By the time we get into game preparation we’ll have a decision.”
Earlier on Monday, Head Coach Mark Helfrich called choosing the Quarterback an ‘Organic’ Decision, meaning the player who has grown the most during the process. Oregon does have an advantage entering the season in that there are three guys who could land the job, “The great thing about having a Quarterback battle and competition is we have depth. We want to go into the season knowing we have three guys we can win with. Right now we have better depth than we did last year.” Lubick added.
Fall Camp for the Oregon Ducks will run through August 29th with the first game of the 2016 on Saturday, September 3rd against UC Davis at Autzen Stadium(2pm Pacific Time, Pac-12 Networks)
