In the first round there were two big Defensive names to keep an eye on. One was Joey Bosa from Ohio State who still has to sign a contract to play in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers. The other, DeForest Buckner who has made the most of his early Training Camp opportunities before the start of his Rookie season in the NFL.
Buckner was the number 7 overall pick in the NFL Draft, but has moved from the third team defense to the first team according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Defensive Coordinator Jim O’Neill said it was earned, even more impressively with just six practices overall, ““He had to earn it. He earned our respect. He earned the players’ respect. I think all of our guys know, we don’t care where you were drafted. You’re going to have to earn it.”
One aspect that may have helped Buckner is former Oregon Teammate Arik Armstead, who is also part of the first team Defensive Line that has been impressive so far in Training Camp.
