The evening in Rio De Janeiro started well for former Oregon Duck English Gardner, hitting the track and winning her heat in the Semi Final round. Her qualifying time was good enough that she did not have to run in the First round earlier in the day. Torie Bowie, who was with Gardner in Eugene, Oregon last month and qualified during the Track and Field Olympic Trials matched Gardner’s time in the Semi Final at 10.90 seconds, leading the thinking that both may have a chance at a Medal, if not a Gold Medal.
Less than two hours later from the Semifinal, both Women took to the track once again. English Gardner saw a rough start out of the blocks from which she would not recover to finish seventh in her first Olympics. Things went a little better for Bowie.
Elaine Thompson of Jamaica took the Gold in 10.71 seconds, Torie Bowie finished in second to take Silver for the United States at 10.83.
In the final week of the 2016 Olympics there are several to watch including Devon Allen in the 110 Meter Hurdles and Ashton Eaton in the Decathalon.
