On Saturday night, Tennessee met Oakland and Mariota played one half of football and threw for four touchdowns on four possessions. He also had several nice runs with one that saw a shuffle pass go for an additional eight yards. It was Marcus Mariota doing Marcus Mariota things, but this time in the National Football League.
The former Oregon Quarterback was 9 for 16 against the Raiders and threw passes to six different receivers. The Tennessean took his numbers a step farther, “Mariota was 23 for 31 throughout the NFL Preseason including the first half against the Raiders.” This is a pretty impressive statistic, regardless of how vanilla the games are.
His newest target Andre Johnson hauled in three passes on Saturday for 65 yards and is providing a needed outlet for Mariota. Last season with injuries the Rookie Quarterback did not have a reliable target to throw to in big situations. It appears that will be fixed in 2016.
