The Oregon Ducks Offense made up for adversity on Saturday picking up a win against UC Davis.

More from Autzen Zoo

Momentum found its way to the Oregon Sideline Saturday afternoon. All it takes is a different opponent who knows how to handle it and it could have been a different story for the Oregon Ducks.

There were teams on Saturday that thought they had a chance. Washington State and USC come to mind. Charles Nelson showed several times that he was human on Saturday. Let us hope he does not remind us the rest of the year.  He did make up for it with killer returns that led to Oregon Touchdowns.

While the Oregon Ducks Offense made some early adjustments and shook off some rust from Fall Camp, it was not a terrible performance. Seven touchdowns on the day. Quarterback Dakota Prukop had plenty of outlets throwing the ball to eight Wide Receivers. Three of those passes were for touchdowns. The Senior also handed the ball off to seven Running Backs led by Royce Freeman who had two touchdowns and 87 yards on the ground.

The Offense had some pieces to work in, including three Freshman on of Offensive Line. On Defense there were highlights….and lowlights. Duck fans are patient. They should like what they saw on Saturday from this 2016 Oregon team. There was no question that one player stood out in his first collegiate game on D.

The Autzen Stadium stage belonged to Freshman Troy Dye. He had 11 tackles, 7 on his own to go with a sack. 4.5 of those tackles were for a loss. Cornerback Arrion Springs found his way in the new 4-3 Defense to 4 solo tackles out of 5. There were points given up, but at the end of the day, Oregon found themselves with a win.

There were questions going into the 2016 season. Some were answered, others not so much. For Oregon fans, this has been the way for the last few years. It was the first game of the year. The rust is off. For the new combers the nerves should now be gone as Big 5 opponent Virginia comes to Autzen Stadium this week.
