The Oregon Ducks opened the first night game of the 2016 season on Defense as Virginia won the coin toss. Virginia saw a three and out on their first possession gaining six yards to open the game. Oregon would look to play the momentum and tempo game early. Charles Nelson would field the ball at the Oregon 22 yard line.

The Ducks also saw their first possession end with a fourth down punt. The second possession saw Dakota Prukop move the team down the field using Royce Freeman who carried the ball into the end zone for six after 46 yards on the drive.

Virginia tied the game at 6 with a missed extra point. The Cavaliers outpaced the Oregon Ducks in the first quarter to tie the game, 120 yards to Oregon’s 84. Charles Nelson would find his groove with a punt return all the way to the Cavaliers 44 yard line to setup the Oregon Offense.

A false start penalty would back Oregon up to third and 10 before Dakota Prukop used his feet to find Darren Carrington for a first down. Royce Freeman would continue the drive with a run down the right sideline before Tony Brooks James capped off a two yard touchdown run giving Oregon a 13-6 lead.

First Quarter Stats saw both teams within a yard of each other on the Offensive side of the ball. Virginia would punt the ball on their first possession of the 2nd Quarter and it was the Punt of the Night. The Ducks would start from their one yard line. It would appear the drive would be stalled on several Offensive Penalties just past midfield, but Dakota Prukop showed off his arm.

Oregon started the second half with the ball and would see a three and out after a 20 yard return from Tony Brooks-James. Virginia would use 2 minutes and 39 seconds to add a touchdown to pull within 17 at 30-13.

It did not last long, Dakota Prukop unleashed a 77 yard pass to Devon Allen to put Oregon back up 37-13. Virginia did not get far on their next drive that saw two Oregon Defensive sacks leading to a punt.

Royce Freeman would double his output from a 100 yard to an over 200 yard night on an 85 yard touchdown run, the longest of his career as an Oregon Duck making it 44-13 over Virginia. The Oregon Offense had their way with Virginia, especially in the second half.

The Oregon Defense saw two sacks on the same drive leading to a Cavaliers punt, and four pass breakups. Jalen Jelks had six tackles, all solo and was responsible for two of the Ducks five sacks through three quarters.

Oregon takes their 2-0 record on the road next week to Nebraska.
