The Oregon Ducks have put in the work this week in Practice and hope for a better approach with less penalties against Colorado.

Oregon faced their biggest test of the season last week against Nebraska and lost by four points. The number of penalties should be uncharacteristic for this team, with a good mix of veterans and young talent, so Defensive Coordinator Brady Hoke became the teacher and worked on the basics this week.

While Oregon’s new 4-3 Defense stood up to some of the pressure of the Cornhuskers, it was easy to see where the issues were for Hoke, “We played 11 man football for  a bunch of plays and then we played 10 man football couple other plays then we played 9 man football.” You don’t need Common Core math to know what Oregon has to do this week on Defense to be successful.

Colorado brings talent on Offense that will challenge Oregon from the start, “They have played real well, hit a lot of big plays. Their Wide Receiver Corps is very talented. They do a nice job coming off the line of scrimmage.”

Colorado Starting Quarterback Sefu Liufao was injured last weekend and it is not known if he will be available this week. He is currently a Game Time Decision. Oregon Ducks Head Coach Mark Helfrich spoke about how the team prepares when they do not now who they will face, “You prepare for their Offense. It’s their Offense, their skill set isn’t that different in terms of what they try and do with them.(their Quarterbacks)

On a lighter note, Helfrich was asked about the Uniforms this week. Oregon will honor their mascot this week with custom uniforms and the team will – well look, act, but probably not quack like a Duck, “It’s the greatest mascot in all of College Sports. The guys, I think they are talking about going deer hunting later with the cleats on it.”
