Oregon Ducks Defensive Growing Pains Must End Against Washington Huskies

Oregon will have to play disciplined Defense against Washington on Saturday.

The Oregon Ducks have shown their youth in 2016. If anything, the season is one of learning and getting better, which many of us knew. The big test comes to Autzen Stadium with the Washington Huskies. Growing pains aside, it is time for the football time to put up or at least show they can play with the best team in the Pac-12 right now.

Entering the season the Oregon Defense had hope with Defensive Coordinator Brady Hoke and a new 4-3 scheme. So far it has not worked out well. It has not been a complete failure and has shown some positive signs. Oregon has gotten stops when they have needed them, most of the time. Oregon is also dealing with a Freshman Offensive Line. Washington will look to push the Ducks around up front and get to the Quarterback, be it Dakota Prukop or Justin Herbert.

Oregon Head Coach Mark Helfrich said preparing for Washington was not an easy task, “We did a little more stuff against our Defense this week because they are so fast at every level. A lot of those guys are also their special teams players. Offensively just tried to simulate their skill guys is difficult.” There is more than pride on the line with this one. Oregon has won the last twelve straight against the Huskies.

They will have to play inspired, mistake free football and execute on Offense.
