It was a good weekend for Oregon Volleyball. Following back to back losses last week at home vs UCLA and USC, the Ducks put together impressive road wins over Colorado and Utah on back to back days. The Buffs fell behind early against the Utah Utes on Friday night and rallied back to win in five sets. Lindsay Vander Weide had one of her most complete games of the season hitting .500 for the match with 20 kills and 17 digs against the Utes.
Oregon was able to get it together following an error filled first set. The Friday win was contagious momentum for Saturday against Colorado. The Ducks took three of four from Buffs on Saturday.
Lindsay Vander Weide put in the work over the weekend. On Saturday she was equally impressive with 12 kills, 15 digs and a career-high 8 blocks. Lauren Page also brought the Defense with 12 blocks and a .667 hitting percentage. Both Vander Weide and Page picked up Pac-12 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week Honors for their contributions.
While Oregon is having some struggles at home, they are a perfect 5-0 on the road this season. The wins over the weekend moved them up to 20th in the AVCA Weekly Poll and more importantly into the Top 15 at 14 in the RPI, which is a big contributor to setting the NCAA Tournament. At 7-3 they are in second place in the Pac-12 behind Washington.
The Arizona schools head to Eugene this week with the Ducks hosting Arizona on Friday night at 7pm Pacific Time. The Ducks will then face Arizona State on Sunday at 11am at Matthew Knight Arena.
