Oregon Ducks Set New School Scoring Record In Blowout Win
Dana Altman knew Savannah State would bring a challenge with their height, but in the end Oregon set a new school scoring record for their 30th straight win.
The Oregon Ducks continued their longest homestand of the season against Savannah State on Saturday Afternoon. A win by the Ducks would be their 30th consecutive at Matthew Knight Arena, good enough for 4th Best in the Nation.
Savannah State started with the first points of the game and both teams appeared even in the first five minutes. Dillon Brooks came in with 16:40 left in the first half and had an immediate impact. Off a steal from Pritchard, Brooks had a lay-in and was fouled.

Dillon Brooks and Tyler Dorsey had all the points for Oregon for the first eight and a half minutes. Kavell Bigby-Williams added a tip-in to put Oregon up 7 with 11:15 left in the first half. Oregon shot 56 percent in the first half and both teams exchanged three-point shots on more than one occasion. Savannah State was not afraid of shooting beyond the arc hitting 8 shots in the first half.
Dana Altman watched the Ducks hitting 60 percent from the floor midway through the second half as Oregon pushed their lead to 90-46 with 11:45 left. Jordan Bell had an off the backboard slam dunk that was Sportscenter worthy. Savannah State continued to fight and land three point shots.
The Tigers were 10 for 39 with just over ten minutes left in the game. The Oregon Ducks set a new record for points scored at Matthew Knight Arena. The old record was set in 2012 vs Iowa at 108. Oregon passed that mark with 5:58 left in the second half.
In looking back, the All-Time scoring total for the Oregon Ducks is 121 vs Portland in 1970.
Savannah State was held scoreless from the 8-minute mark to about the 4-minute mark. Oregon saw Tyler Dorsey hit a three and Roman Sorkin tied the 46-year-old record.
Oregon was about to have a player as a Trivia answer for the rest of his life. Payton Pritchard scored the three-pointer that broke the record. The Ducks won by 69 points 128-59 over Savannah State.
It was another good tune-up for the Oregon Ducks who also hit 30 on their winning streak at Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks next host Alabama next Sunday at 3pm Pacific Time on ESPNU.
