Oregon Softball: Freshman Sharing In Early Dominant Play

Infielder Mia Camuso is batting over .500 and did her part to lead the Oregon Duck past Seattle University on Saturday. She closed out the Kajikawa Classic with three hits, a run, and two RBI’s to lead Oregon to their fifth straight win, 4-1 over Seattle. Freshman Pitching has also led the way shutting down the competition.

Returning Starter Megan Kleist is 1-0, but the performance of Freshman Maggie Balint is impressive. She has three wins under her belt in just over 18 innings pitched for Oregon. She has struck out 26 and is allowing opposing batters an average under 2(1.85). Former Oregon Star players can never be replaced, but Balint and Kleist are playing so well it would make Cheridan Hawkins smile looking at the early stat line.
Miranda Elish is equally impressive with a 1-0 record and batting .444 with two hits and four runs to her credit. Veterans Nikki Udria and Sammy Puentes are batting .529 and .429 respectively. As a team, Oregon Ducks Softball is hitting over .360 to start the year. The pitching staff ERA is at 1.06.
Oregon continues with the season-opening road trip this week at the Mary Nutter Classic. The Ducks face Kentucky and Kent State on Friday, February 17th.
