Oregon Softball Adds Three More Wins At Mary Nutter Classic
Oregon Ducks Starting Pitcher Maggie Balint and Nikki Udria powered the team to early season wins over Kentucky and Illinois.
The Oregon Ducks Softball team (9-0) did not allow a day off from rain Saturday to put a damper on a solid weekend that saw another Top 25 win and a Run Ruled win over Illinois early on Sunday afternoon.
Oregon and Kentucky opened the Mary Nutter Classic and played to a 4-4 tie before Nikki Udria hit a homerun to win the game for the Ducks. Maggie Balint picked up her fifth win of the season over the Wildcats. Danica Mercado added three hits and two runs in the come from behind win. Oregon took momentum into the second game of the day against Kent State.

Megan Kleist picked up her second win of the season and Balint again saw the circle for her first save of the year for Mike White. Danica Mercado, Haley Cruse, and Shannon Rhodes all saw their first base steals of the year in a 4-3 win. Saturday was an off day with rained-out contests with Liberty and Cal State Northridge canceled. The Ducks wrapped up the weekend Sunday morning vs Illinois.
Oregon took control early vs the Illini and broke the game open with 8 runs in the second. The Ducks won by run rule 11-0 in six innings. Megan Kleist picked up her third win and Mia Camuso was solid at the plate with a double and 3 RBI’s. Nikki Udria added her second home run of the weekend in the blowout victory.
The Tournament road trip continues this week with the Rainbow Wahine Classic. Oregon faces Hawaii, Montana, and UNLV starting on Thursday.
