David Peterson Strikes Out 14, Oregon Ducks Win 5th Straight Game

The Oregon Ducks continued a four-game series against Santa Clara and picked up their second win of the weekend on Friday night.

Oregon and Santa Clara played a low scoring affair and for the second straight game Oregon Starter David Peterson was masterful. Last Friday he threw 17 strikeouts in a win over Mississippi State. On Friday night he threw seven strong inning striking out 14 Broncos. He gave up three hits. Kenyon Yovan came in for the final two innings to earn the save after giving up a run. Oregon won their second game of the weekend 2-1.

George Horton watched Oregon bat .214 for the game. Kyle Kassar led off and is now hitting .353 on the season. He had a hit and a run. Daniel Patzlaff hit at the bottom of the lineup and scored the other run on the night.

The Oregon Ducks had just four strikeouts in the game and had four walks. Both teams left players on base with the Ducks leaving 8 stranded. Santa Clara stranded 6 including the potential game-winner in the top of the ninth.

Oregon enters the second half of the series vs Santa Clara with momentum winning four straight and five of their last six games.

The Ducks and Broncos play the third game of the series on Saturday at 2pm Pacific Time at PK Park.
