The Oregon Ducks again showed what Track and Field was all about with the Women’s Team winning the National Title for the Indoor Season.

One big reason for the win was Hannah Cunliffe. She won her first career National Title in the 60 Meters and placed second in the 200 Meters behind Oregon Teammate Arianna Washington. Between the two events Cunliffe earned 18 total points, the most of the meet.

Hannah Cunliffe was also named Women’s National Track and Field Athlete of the Year. It has been a great season for the Oregon Junior who was unable to compete last season for a shot at the Summer Olympics due to injury.  Cunliffe was instrumental in helping the Oregon Ducks ot their 12th National Indoor Title and 7th on the Women’s Side.

The Oregon Ducks also had the second fastest 4×400 relay time in the meet’s history.

Head Coach Robert Johnson was also honored with National Women’s Coach of the Year Honors. He helped guide the team to a record 81 points or the Indoor National Title.

The Oregon Ducks also made noise on the Men’s side finishing third nationally. Edward Cheserek continued an amazing career winning his 16th and 17th National Titles in Track and Field. It was his ninth and final Championship for the Indoor season. Cheserek nearly had three Titles in one day but fell just short in the mile behind Josh Kerr from New Mexico.

For his efforts, Cheserek set a new mark for individual points at 28.5, breaking the old mark of 22.5. His finishing mark in 2016 tied the old mark. There were others that had a good weekend for Oregon.

Mitch Modin completed the Decathalon in 11th place. Senior Kyree King placed sixth in the 60 meters giving the Ducks 3 points. Both the Men and Women have a few weeks off to prepare for the Outdoor season.
