Oregon Ducks, Cal Riding Momentum Entering Pac-12 Play
The Oregon Ducks(11-4) start Pac-12 Play on the Road against California(8-7) with non-conference momentum.
Oregon Head Coach George Horton seemed content with what has seen from his team during the non-conference slate. The Ducks have swept a series at home that saw the Pitching Staff not give up a run last weekend against Santa Clara. Oregon extended their winning streak to six straight games and head to Cal. The Golden Bears are on a winning streak of their own.

Cal has also been on a winning streak, taking their last five games. Freshman lead the charge at the plate for the Golden Bears. They lead the Pac-12 in Homeruns with 12 on the year. Oregon Ducks Friday Starter David Peterson has been stellar in his last two starts striking out 17 and 14 respectively in two wins. Being the Friday Starter and not knowing much about his opponent(Cal) is not a big concern for the Oregon Ducks Ace, “It doesn’t bother me. It’s different than being the Saturday or Sunday guy. You don’t have a game to watch to figure hitters out…just have to go in and dominate someone and give this team the best start you can.”
California Freshman Andrew Vaughn will be one to watch for the series. He leads Cal with 10 RBI’s and is hitting third best in the lineup at .343. Vaughn is also a bullpen arm and has five saves already this season for the Golden Bears. For the Oregon Ducks Offensively, Spencer Steer had the best hitting series against Santa Clara last weekend and Kyle Kassar is batting .375 from the leadoff spot.
"You don’t go into Pac-12 play assuming that no one is going to punch you in the nose, have a big inning on you…we’re gonna have to be able to compensate and adjust and do all the things that good tough teams do.Head Coach George Horton on the Start of Pac-12 Play"
For Oregon, Spencer Steer had the best hitting series against Santa Clara last weekend and Kyle Kassar is batting .375 from the leadoff spot. Kenyon Yovan is the Ducks two-way player who has seen the field and the bullpen. Yovan has two runs and three hits and is batting .200. He has played in 9 games this season, but his arm has been more important. He is 1-0 with 5 saves for the Ducks.
Both teams bring momentum into the first Pac-12 Series of the Year.
The Oregon Ducks and California Golden Bears start their three game series Friday at 7:05pm Pacific Time.
