Oregon Softball: Maggie Balint Throws Three Hitter As Ducks Take Series Over Florida State
Maggie Balint pitched a three-hit complete game 3-1 win to give the Oregon Ducks the series over Florida State.
Oregon already had a run-rule win under their belt on Florida State, the first against the Seminoles since 2015. Maggie Balint would get the ball for game two in the series and she started the game getting out of the first inning unscathed with a strikeout.

Oregon picked up a hit in the first inning but went to the second scoreless vs Florida State. The Seminoles struck first in the top of the second. Maggie Balint walked two FSU batters. Carsyn Gordon picked up an RBI Single. Balint got out of the inning giving up one run.
The Ducks left the bases loaded in the bottom of the second. Florida State Starter Jessica Burroughs handcuffed Oregon with shifting speed and placement. She had three strikeouts through two innings.
It was a pitchers duel till the bottom of the sixth. Oregon started the inning with their first hit since the third inning and followed it with and RBI Double by Mia Camuso put Ducks on the board and woke up the sellout crowd of over 2000 at Jane Sanders Stadium.
Oregon added an insurance run for a 3-1 lead off a Danica Mercado hit in the bottom of the sixth. The Ducks had three runs in the inning. Maggie Balint looked to close out a three-hit masterpiece.
At the start of the day, Florida State had the bead on the number one ranking in the nation after beating Florida earlier this week. At the end, the Oregon Ducks showed they can step up in big games when it matters taking the series with two solid pitching performances in the circle and timely hitting.

The third game of the series between the Oregon Ducks and Florida State is set for 5pm Pacific Time Sunday on Pac-12 Network. The game will also be broadcast locally in Eugene/Springfield on KWVA 88.1 FM.
