Earlier this month Oregon Ducks Sophomore to be Payton Pritchard accepted an invitation to play for Team USA and has made an impact in the first two games.

The Oregon Basketball team will look very different when they return to the court next season, and the hope for Payton Pritchard is confidence and better shooting. He accepted an invitation last month to play in FIBA, and the Under 19 group led by John Calipari. The team is currently in Cairo, Egypt through this week.

In the first two games of the Tournament, Payton Pritchard has played a key role off the bench. Saturday saw the Oregon Native score four points in a win over Mali. In Group D play on Sunday, Pritchard added five points and two steals in a 109-68 win over Angola.

Team USA and Italy lead Group D with undefeated records at 2-0 respectively. USA has Monday off and takes on Italy Tuesday to close out Group Play. Following the game the teams will be broken into a Round of 16 for the final four days of competition. The Tournament concludes on Sunday, July 9th.

A second Oregon Duck is also taking part in the FIBA U19 World Cup. Oregon Baskeball commit Abu Kigab is playing for Team Canada and may see Team USA over the next week. The Canadians are currently 1-1 in the Group Round. Kigab is averaging 16 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games for Team Canada.
